Four Seasons Resort Lanai

This is one of the most unique resorts I’ve ever seen in my 60+ years on the planet. It starts with the employees, who are all attentive, friendly, kind, and customer-focused. The design includes a tropical botanic garden with miniature canals and koi ponds, as well as low-rise buildings and landscaping. The diversity of plants, in terms of heights, sizes, and colours, is incredible. The views from the suites, communal spaces, and the pool area (which features two lovely free-form pools that are also nicely manicured) are breathtaking. The atmosphere is peaceful as you stroll across the grounds. The resort is home to a variety of birds, butterflies, reptiles, and chatty rescue parrots.

The Peninsula Chicago

The Peninsula Chicago combines Hong Kong’s cosmopolitan flare with the Windy City’s Midwestern charm, occupying prime real estate on Chicago’s famed Magnificent Mile. The guest rooms are described as cosy by travellers, thanks to their creamy colour palette and plush furniture, as well as modern technical touches like as a bedside remote command station that regulates the lights, television, and room temps. Meanwhile, The Peninsula Chicago’s renowned Peninsula Spa is in a league of its own, earning the hotel numerous accolades from health and leisure publications. The afternoon tea served in the lobby bar gets an honourable mention from guests, who remark it’s a charming and welcome addition.

The Jefferson, Washington, DC

Since 1923, the Jefferson, Washington, DC has catered to Washington’s most affluent visitors, offering a taste of European grandeur in the centre of the nation’s capital. The early 20th century artworks and sculptures line the checkered floors, evoking the Beaux-Arts era. iPads, walk-in showers, flat-screen TVs, and complimentary Wi-Fi are available in the Jefferson’s exquisite rooms. (Upgrade to a suite for a bit extra space, which includes a coffee maker and, in certain cases, balconies with views of the Washington Monument.) Recent guests highly recommend using the on-site spa and the in-house gourmet restaurant throughout their stay.

The Little Nell

The Little Nell, located at the base of Aspen Mountain on the city’s southern outskirts, caters to snow enthusiasts with on-site amenities such as a ski concierge team (who can arrange anything from lift tickets to ski rentals) and an equipment storage centre. Guests, on the other hand, remark that the hotel’s proximity to the powder isn’t the only incentive to stay there. The Little Nell’s two in-house restaurants, element47 and Ajax Tavern, are known for their artistically prepared meals, and the hotel spa is great for post-ski relaxation. Furthermore, The Little Nell is well-equipped to welcome families, with board games, ski and bike rentals, car seats, strollers, and other family-friendly amenities.
